Three months later…

Gen was seated in the Scott family house. She hadn’t been here in a month. She was on edge. She and Dom had barely seen each other since the day Zara was discharged. He had left on a three-month trip the very next day and still had not returned. He had also insisted she remain silent about Zara until he was ready to annul the marriage.

She had tried to go about her life as if her heart was not broken, until today. She had come home to see a signed copy of the divorce papers. He hadn’t even thought to give them to her in person. She had grabbed them off the table and signed them. Now she was here to tell Desmond what he needed to know.

“Gen,” he called out with a smile as he walked into the room. She tried to smile back and failed. “How are you? I did not see a lot of you last night.” He lowered himself into his seat.

“Yeah. I had to go home early. I felt unwell,” she answered in a low voice.
