Chapter 198. Feign Sympathy
Maxwell stepped out of his black car and adjusted his suit, the fabric shining with the power he carried. He looked up at the big house before him, the grandeur a reflection of the man he was about to meet. The senator was a big deal, not open to just anyone. But Maxwell wasn’t just anyone and his status and connections opened doors that were shut to most.
The front door was guarded by two stern faced security men who, upon seeing Maxwell, stepped aside to let him in. He was led through a series of fancy hallways, each with priceless art and decorations, until he got to a beautiful living room. The room spoke the wealth and riches win volumes that could be seen.
Maxwell sat back in a plush armchair comfortably. He looked relaxed but he had his intentions and he knew it had to be handled with kid gloves. Offering his condolences was a formality; his real purpose was much more sinister.
