Chapter 21

"Everybody stand back." Detective Phillipe's voice shrieked at everyone at the scene of the accident. There was a car in flames, a truck that had lost control.

Gusts of cold wind blew, making Max wear a long black coat as he joined the detectives in helping out the victims. His gaze kept drifting around. There were dead bodies everywhere. About sixty injured civilians and eight dead.

"Help." A woman inside a car flipped over pleaded. As Max walked past, he heard her and rushed to help. He called other detectives as they flipped the car over to help the woman and her children. The husband was dead.

It wasn't a pleasant sight. Despite being a detective for five years, Max still wasn't used to seeing that amount of blood. The blood was dripping into the river underneath the bridge, infecting the water and changing its color.

Max took a deep breath as he tried
