Chapter 12
Trope Twelve: Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
Bill’s POV
Have you ever come across the saying, ‘One won’t know the value of what one has until it’s lost?’
The characters in this chapter, myself inclusive, had to learn it in one way or the other.
It was the finals of practice.
I watched Kate run, and there was a calming effect watching her produce.
“You look like a pervert grinning that much,” Dennis said.
“Said the man who’s ogling the track and field president’s legs,” I replied.
“She’s my girlfriend, I’m well within my rights,” he said. “Mmm… She does move those legs well.”
“You sound like a sex offender, maybe I should dial the cops,” I said as I pulled out my phone. “Oh.”
“What’s up?” He asked. “The cops are on vacation?”
“No, I don’t think so,” I replied. “My dad sent me a text.”
“Really? What’s it say?” He asked.
“Just a simple ‘How’s it going?’” I said as I put the phone back in my pocket.
