Chapter 83. Cracks in the Foundation
Lily’s POV
The silence in the room was suffocating. I paced back and forth, replaying the disastrous events of the evening in my mind. How had it come to this? Our wedding day, the supposed start of a beautiful new chapter, was instead an unraveling mess.
I clenched my fists, anger bubbling under my skin. Ethan’s indifference was infuriating. For months, he had adored me, my body, my presence, my everything. Now, he treated me like a chore, something to be endured rather than cherished.
Determined to snap him out of it, I marched to the bathroom door and knocked. “Ethan, are you coming out, or do I have to spend our wedding night alone?”
He opened the door a crack, his shirt unbuttoned but still hanging loosely off his shoulders. His expression was weary, but I ignored it.
“Can we not do this tonight, Lily?” he said, his voice heavy.
I stepped forward, pushing the door fully open. “Oh, we’re doing this. You think you can ignore me all night
