“Lucas, it’s not what you think,” I blurt out, already panicking. “I slipped and he caught me, that’s all.”
But Lucas ain’t hearing it. His eyes are locked on Mark like he’s two seconds from launching at him, while Mark’s over there rolling his eyes like Lucas is just being dramatic.
I walk up and grab Lucas’s arm, low-key relieved when he doesn’t pull away. “Lucas, please,” I say. “Let’s just go.”
It takes a full minute of him mentally murdering Mark with his eyeballs before he finally looks at me. Then he grabs my hand and starts dragging me out of the damn greenhouse. We stop a bit farther down, tucked behind a wall, and he immediately spins around to face me.
