Chapter 144

Sarah's POV

It felt scary as I got in.

I was afraid to my bone marrow as my mind raced with thoughts of my daughter's safety.

 I know the Syndicate will stop at nothing to silence me if I do not cooperate with them like we have been doing from the onset.

As I hear the sound of footsteps outside my cell, my heart begins to race. The door opens, and Detective James stands before me, a look of determination in his eyes.

"Sarah, I know you are still working with the Syndicate," he says, his voice firm but measured.

 "But I also know you're a mother. And I'm willing to make a deal with you." Detective James offered.

He pauses, his eyes locked on mine.

 "Tell me the truth, and I will make sure your daughter is protected. But if you refuse, I will have no choice but to throw you leave you here, where the Syndicate will surely find out that you are not doing their job!" He threatens.

I feel a surge of fear
