Chapter 41

Henry had been trying his best to please Audrey. He had been giving her more attention, but she was rejecting all of it. She hardly talked to him, and when she did, it was only when necessary to reply to him. She had always been on her own and on the lookout. She knew Madelyn would also be trying her best to get her where she least expected.

She was supposed to meet with the prosecutor this noon at his office. She dressed up and went to the park, where she met the driver already waiting for her. She had already told him about her journey, so he had prepared the car. She told Jason to follow her too, as a guard but also as an accomplice.

“I noticed something yesterday, Jason,” Audrey told him.

“What’s that?” He asked.

“The girl. She was placed in the middle of the room, but when I went there yesterday, she was at a corner in the room. It really baffled me,” Audrey explained.

“You shouldn’t be baffled; it’s definitely Mr. Sebastian’s handiwork,” he replie
