Chapter 27. The Talk

James’s POV

After Evelyn asked for a break, at first I thought she’d get over it and come back but I was dead wrong.

Hours turned into days and days into weeks but still no sign of her. I tried reaching her severally but to no avail.

The line always goes through but no answer. She has done this before but not for this long.

I fear she might not come back this time. Which would make things easier as she would be out of the way. But despite all these waves, I haven’t tried reaching her office there is no way she didn’t make it there.

I know that calling her directly would yield anything so I came up with a plan. I just want to know if she is okay, not that I want to be with her anyway.

I used another line to call the office but somehow it resulted in the same outcome.

At least I tried, now it’s time to get up and prepare for work. ANS Inc. wouldn’t run itself you know.

So I got up from my bed and got ready for the day.
