Chapter 38
Bethany’s POV
I was expecting something more sensual and intimate between us, but all I got was a letdown. Following the restroom incident, Jacob gradually distanced himself from me.
Most of the time, he’s probably on a conference call or reading. He was too busy to talk to me, which irritated me! I wanted to pay him visits every day, but Jacob made that impossible.
Furthermore, I couldn’t figure out why I was missing him when we lived in the same house! Is it true that my feelings for him have gotten out of hand? We ran into each other in the corridor one day after both of us exited our bedrooms at the same time. Jacob’s disregard for me was perplexing. As he walked past me, I grabbed his arm and stopped him.
“What are you up to, Jacob?”
Jacob’s gaze shifted from my delicate hand on his arm to me. “I’m doing the right thing, Bethany,” he said.
