Chapter 23. Bright Blue Eyes

His eyes directly connect with Lexcis's, and he starts striding forward. I jump in front of him, placing my hands on his chest. That seems to stop him. It seems to put a smile on his face even. He doesn't even notice how badly I'm shaking. He doesn't care.
"It was a guard," I spit, my words laced with frustration.
"Who? Which one?" he asks, leaning in with curiosity.
"He had bright blue eyes," I pause, glancing around as if the memory were etched in the air. "I didn't get a good look at him. But I'm fine, really," I reassure, my eyes subtly assessing his men, gauging their reactions.
I find one with blue eyes and keep staring at him, knowing that Damon will instantly want to know where my gaze is focused on.
