Chapter 36. Not That Different

"What if I said that I am?" he said, his voice low and tempting.
He notices the frown appearing on my face, and his smile grows. His face is now mere inches away from mine.
"I'd say you're lying," I whisper back, my breath hitting his skin, and I can almost feel his smile on mine.
"Then I guess we're really not that different, love," he said, his words laced with a teasing tone.
I find myself slowly leaning into him. My hand reaches up to his face, caressing his cheek. He doesn't react.
He only reacts when my lips almost brush against his. This would be the first time I initiate anything, so his shocked expression is natural. His hand on my neck tightens, and he's anticipating my next move.
"I promise you, Lexcis Aeden. I'm going to kill you," I said.
