Chapter 35. Turned on

Zave refuses, "Chantel, just tell me."

"Zave, not now! Please, leave." I wish he would listen. I wanted to talk to him, I did. That's why I came back into the Inn in the first place, but now I am way too angry.

I crouch down, sitting on the ground with my back against the wall. Lexcis approaches us and gently tugs Zave away.

"Really, Chantel? I need to leave, but he gets to stay?!" Zave sounds frustrated but also disappointed, his voice fading as Lexcis leads him out of the room.

I'm absolutely fuming and I can't directly answer him. How dare he think that way? I want to be alone. Realizing that no one will leave me alone, I try to leave the room. Pushing through the crowd of people.

Lexcis's hand circles around my upper arm. "Just stay, I'll get them to leave," he whispers into my ear.
