Chapter 39. Dangerous Area

It would be better to let them enter so we can take them out one by one, rather than walking out into the dangerous area. We have the advantage if we stay inside.
Lexcis motions for me to move and stand behind him since he has the bigger weapon. It will be easier to strike someone down that way.
I do as he wants and stand behind him; I bring out two daggers, holding each in one hand. We move to stand on the seats.
Then it happens. The door swings open but luckily we're already out of view. From their perspective, the carriage looks empty. Well, if they come closer, they'll see us.
My eyes promptly search the faces and I count as many as I can see. "Eight," I whisper to Lexcis.
It isn't necessarily a correct number but it's enough to mentally prepare us.
