I hug Veronica, thanking her while she just smiles and tells me that she did enjoy the time with her niece even though she cried for almost all of it.

"So our daughter can cry. She just chooses not to." Lexcis jokes when I near them again. I brush my hand over the mop of curls on her head and nod while bursting out into laughter.

"She ruined them." I chuckle.

"I just wonder why they didn't alert us via the guards."

"Well, Madam Eira said that it was manageable until an hour ago. We were already on our way back by then."
