The next morning, I went into the forest to look for ingredients for the hotpot dinner. Hotpot, a mixture of meats, vegetables, fish, and mushrooms cooked in a delicious broth, is usually reserved for important events. However, Trinity’s arrival anniversary is significant. She was the first inhabitant of the village after the Queen founded it, serving as the resident healer for years. This was my way of showing appreciation for her.

I also wanted to ask her about her past; the sadness in her eyes yesterday still haunts me. If she talks about it, I’m sure she’ll eventually feel better. For now, I kept gathering mushrooms, picking a strange brown one that looked like a deer horn, a round white one, three green and purple ones. I’d have Fio, our new cook, check for poisonous ones. Even poisonous mushrooms could be used to make useful potions, so I was picking at random. The forest gives, and I shan’t waste its efforts to provide for us.
