Chapter 26

Claire’s POV

“Will you be okay here?” Luke asked. I told him to just drop me off at the hospital so he could rest too.

“I’ll be fine,” I smiled at him.

I called Caleb to pick me up downstairs, and while I was waiting in the hospital lobby with my bags still with me, I saw Cole half-running towards the elevator. My legs froze at the sight of him again. I couldn’t move in anger. What the heck was he doing here? As soon as Caleb reached me, I told him about Cole.

“Where is he?” he asked.

“The elevator. Did he know what happened to Dad?” I asked him.

“I didn’t tell him, of course. But someone might have given him information about what happened to Dad,” he said, gritting his teeth in anger. “Come on, Claire. We can’t let Dad see him; he’s still being monitored,” Caleb said.

“I understand,” I said.

We ran to the ICU, but thank goodness the nurses didn’t let anyone just enter.
