Chapter 48

Claire’s POV

The drive back home was silent, only the music on the radio kept us entertained throughout the drive.

Does our conversation earlier make us a little awkward to each other? I decided just to sleep so it wouldn’t get more awkward.

I was already at the point of falling asleep when my phone rang. I took my phone out of my bag to check who was calling me and it was Caleb.

“Claire? I got some news about Marjorie,” he said.

“What is it?”

“She is going to have surgeries,” I frowned.

“Look at what she did. It backfired on her,” I sighed.

“I know. Where are you now?” Caleb asked.

“On the way home,” I said before saying goodbye to Caleb and ending the call.

I felt Luke was looking at me, but I went back to sleep. I am avoiding a conversation with him.

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and it was Luke waking me up because we arrived at my house.

“Just do whatever you want, Luke,” I said as soon as w
