Chapter 180
Damian’s POV
For a long, hollow moment after Rain finishes her confession, I can’t hear anything.
It’s like the world has gone silent, swallowed whole by the echo of her words.
“I was sent to destroy you.”
“I was never one of you.”
The sentences replay again and again in my head .
I stare at her, but I don’t recognize the woman standing before me. The Rain I knew, the one who used to laugh softly when I teased her, who always smelled like rain and pine, who looked at me like maybe, just maybe, she saw me for more than a Beta, she’s gone.
And the person left behind is a stranger with cold eyes and poison on her tongue.
When the guards move toward her, my body acts before my mind does. I take a step forward, my hand twitching like I might stop them but I couldn’t . My boots root to the ground, my chest burning like someone’s driving a blade straight through it.
