6 Days Before the Execution.

Silence reigned for a second after I stood up ignoring Maeron.

Then the courtroom erupted into chaos. eleven elders, voices rising over each other in disbelief and outrage, pounded their fists against the stone table.

“Outrageous!”

“This is madness!”

“You’re letting your emotions cloud your judgment!”

It took everything in me to stay calm. I’d expected the backlash. Hell, I’d prepared for it. But it still made my skin crawl to see how quickly people could turn on someone just because they didn’t understand her.
