Chapter 75. The Greater Good

It turned out that Veronica was visiting her secret lab, which was guarded by several figures hidden from view. As soon as they saw Veronica, they came out of hiding and nodded politely to the middle-aged woman.

“Has anyone tried to get in here? Willow? Zoey? Or Jace?” Veronica asked.

The guards shook their heads in unison.

“Mr. Max was here earlier. But he was just wandering around. Didn’t seem to be investigating the lab, ma’am,” one of them said.

“Max’s mind is distracted by trivial matters,” Veronica grumbled.

She waved her hand and ordered the guards to return to their posts. Then Veronica pulled a lever and the secret door opened, and she entered, followed by the head servant.
