Chapter 77. Wedding Invitation

Shawn was surprised to see Max arrive at his house. The detective quickly approached Max on the porch as soon as he got out of the car, and they shook hands. Max’s face seemed to light up, and for some reason, everything seemed to be working out for Zoey’s father.

“You look happy, sir,” Shawn said.

Max just smiled. “Is it obvious?”

“Well, your face shows something shining, shimmering, splendid.”

Again Max just smiled. “Well, actually, I’m going to marry Willow. I think this marriage will work out better.”

Shawn was silent for a moment, not expecting what he heard. But isn’t that good news?

“I’m glad to hear that, sir. I hope everything goes smoothly this time,” Shawn replied.

“I hope so.”

Suddenly Shawn was confused about what to say. There was no closeness between Shawn and Max. Unlike Kyler, for some reason, Shawn had gotten to know him quickly.

“Excuse me for asking, but why did you come here, sir?” Shawn asked directly.
