Escaping from the range of the arrows was a strong effort; it was difficult to take cover and find a place of shelter. I threw a cupboard on the ground to use as a shield as the archers approached.
The man had said the word “water” before he died, but I could not connect it to anything because he did not continue speaking. I cursed those fanatical archers who showed up to guard their plans before they were discovered.
“Surrender now, and you will find mercy!” roared one of them who was approaching.
The arrow attacks would continue unless someone made an attempt to retreat or surrender. I went outside with my head down to surrender. I knew when I had lost, and hiding would have been an even worse act of cowardice. The other soldiers followed me. We remained on our knees before them.
They came with triumph in their eyes.
“Mr. Fayz will decide your fate; you must come with us so he can decide what to do with you.”
