The time for Jacob’s return was approaching; it was almost that time, and I was looking out the window every two minutes to see if the troops were visible or could catch a glimpse.
“He will arrive today, I am sure of it,” I said to Carmen.
Nicolas had sensed his presence; he could see it because he had changed his posture, and that happened when his father was around; besides, he had stopped crying. Normally, he did not sleep badly, and when he did not sleep, this insomnia was suddenly there.
