He signaled for me to lower my voice immediately. I must be hallucinating; this situation made no sense at all. I could still feel the applause for my grandmother’s death ringing in my ears.
“It is unfair that he died for no reason.” I said as the crying seemed to return to me after the anger. I could not help remembering that a few minutes before she died, I had refused her help and advice. “They rejoiced that she was dead.”
He knew it affected him, though he tried to hide it.
“They clapped their hands on his grave, damn it!” I shouted with a howl that broke the ears of those present.
