Chapter 223. The Right Thing to Do

After Granny closed her eyes for good, the house seemed to lose much of its light. It was as if the sun had only risen for a few hours, half as much as usual, an absence that could not be missed.
“Are you cleaning, Grandfather?” I asked, seeing him dusting some old blankets that were stored in one of the cupboards.
“Yes” he replied solemnly. His face was sad, of course it would be, for he had seen her leave this world just as I had.
But his sadness was not violent, for he seemed to be at peace, even though he missed her.
“When you love, you know that the other person is making the right choices with their life and we accept that.” Grandfather began to walk around the room, a broom in his other hand.
“It is so hard to accept when people go.” I said, feeling melancholy. First Clarisa and now my grandmother, the woman who helped me when I was in the depths of depression.
“Because we love them and that creates a lot of attachment.” he said
