The man was treating Lucero in a way I wouldn’t have believed possible. He had a vast knowledge of medicine, much like Dove. When I met her in the castle, that’s what impressed me most about her. She could work with a handful of herbs and create poultices to heal the wounded and sick. It was an art I found truly admirable.
“She’ll wake up soon. Her wound has stopped bleeding,” he said as we traveled a long road.
The journey was difficult to navigate. The dirt path was riddled with potholes, so I had to pay close attention to avoid shattering the carriage. I focused on maintaining balance while trying not to think about Lucero dying halfway. In this life, I had lived through too many inexplicable things to give up to mere death now. It was ironic, but it kept me focused on the journey.
