His gaze was changing, I could feel something was happening to him, something he wasn’t telling me. Even if he denied it, even if he wanted to appear strong. I wanted to chase after him until he told me the whole truth. Something inside me stopped me dead in my tracks before I could do it. No, it wasn’t right.
He had to come and apologize for behaving that way. Of course, I could understand that he had practically brushed against death. But he had to understand that treating me so distantly would not fix things or change anything for the better.
I was upset as I returned with my little ones. I couldn’t understand what was happening to Jacob. His character seemed to be getting colder and more distant every day. All the progress we had made seemed to be diminishing every day in this palace.
“When we get home, everything will go back to normal.” I murmured, talking to myself, because the little ones would hardly be able to understand.
