“It’s not that I miss you much when we’re apart,” I said with a playful grimace.
“You always say that and it’s a lie. In my absence you tend to lose your way,” Chris replied sarcastically.
Sallie made a face and let out a laugh. I felt a little sorry for Marielle. Only a fool would fall in love with Chris, he didn’t have the capacity to be in a serious relationship or commit to anything. It seemed he could only commit to this war and his friends. Beyond that, he was constantly changing.
Chris stepped away from the group a bit, he was amazed to see everything around him. There was so much information and it was so confusing that I didn’t understand how he could be so calm. I looked at Sallie, who was singing while braiding her hair, sitting on the edge of the stairs.
