I held the teacup in my hands. Carmen liked to drink mild herbal tea, unsweetened. I prepared it just the way she liked it; I knew she wasn’t feeling well after Karl was so rude to her. I wanted to take it to her room so we could drink it together.

She wasn’t in her room. I wondered where she could be, I kept walking down the hallway and exhaustion hit me as I hurried up the stairs. I sat down in one of the small resting corners of the palace and decided to drink the tea alone. Because I didn’t want it to get cold.

Who knows where she could be? She had her own life, I understood that, we couldn’t be together all the time. Maybe she was with Karl. I hoped they could work things out between them. I didn’t like to see Carmen sad, I wanted her to have a reciprocated romance. I wished it with all my heart.
