Chapter 391. Letting Go of Expectations

I observed the plant I had in my room. A new acquisition, a kind of tree that I pruned every day to keep it at its medium size. I didn’t want it to grow, I had a particular fondness for the black leaves of that oak-like tree.
“Where did you buy it?” asked Fayz, who was anxious, I could tell by his voice.
“I don’t buy things, I’m a king.” I smiled, with a calmness that was every day. “Everything is given to me.”
Fayz grimaced. It was fascinating to see how the different lights were merging in his gaze. The glow of loyalty and the glow of discontent. Lights that intertwined into a single look.
I handed him a letter, which had y symbol on it, an old symbol that I thought few would use anymore.
