Chapter 449. Return
IAN
I would have switched places with Chris if I could. Of course I would, not only because I would bear the pain for him. But because, seeing him convulse, on the bed and completely defenseless, was the most horrible feeling in the world.
Seeing a friend being attacked by things that are impossible to see and not being able to help is the most terrible thing that can happen to you.
I shouted many times, as did Sallie. We were both in a state of utter despair at the sudden movements Chris was making.
He was agonizing. His hair completely lost its natural pigmentation and was now snow white. His eyes, when he opened them, were also gray. Slowly he was losing all human color.
What Tachje had warned us about seemed increasingly close.
“He won’t die. He’s fighting,” I said, looking at Tachje with a hope that didn’t fade.
“I already told you I can’t guarantee it,” he denied, he was in his animal-human form that made everyone so uncomfortable.
