The death of Josefina would be marked in the kingdom; the news spread so quickly that I didn’t have time to explain. People began to say that even in the castle, one couldn’t feel safe, and the worst part was that it was true. The man entered the cell as if it were his home and managed to escape without even a scratch; that was so questionable that doubts were natural.
Two days passed, and I didn’t feel relief; in fact, I started to see that people around me were condemning me for her death. I could see her if I closed my eyes, with her body uncovered, looking at Jacob with that lust. If I kept digging into the memories, my heart would feel rage and jealousy again despite her no longer being in this world.
I arrived at my room and locked myself in, falling onto the chair at my desk with a mirror, seeing my consternated face in the reflection. How could that have happened? I looked at myself for a long time, looking for an answer.
