Chapter 99. Fun

Larry was quite confused, but at least not dead, as I thought he would be when the vagabond confessed to his crime. The house was indeed a death trap, and I had to sneak in through one of the unguarded windows.
Luckily for me, as Larry caused a commotion upstairs, it wasn’t too difficult to get in because they were preoccupied with him. It wasn’t cheap, though, as I had gotten an acid burn on one of my feet, and it was very painful. The vagabond was right; they had more tactics and very skilled handling of substances to defend themselves inside.
Now, we had to make sure we could get out alive before another one of the many traps in the house caught us. I had underestimated the enemy, and it had cost me to bypass their strategies. I wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
“And the boy?” Larry asked as we were heading towards the window to jump out.
“He’s safe now,” I replied. Before entering the house, I had seen Chris, and the guards had taken him
