“Is it the same disease you had as a child?", I whisper, waiting for his confirmation as he raises his head to face me.

James nods in dismay as if even he can't take it anymore, I don't know what he is feeling right now, but I can imagine every moment of pain he is forced to feel.

“I was diagnosed with lung cancer when I was only six years old, it was painful and the worst moment of my life, but I managed to recover from it, but everything is coming back to the surface, and I am not sure if I have the capacity or the strength to go through it all again."

“What are you talking about? Of course, you have a chance, stop second-guessing yourself, you'll get through this the same way you did the first time, and everything will be fine, James.", I say with determination, but he denies it with his head several times in a row.

“You don't understand, Chloe. The disease has come back and it's stronger than ever, the symptoms are short and rapid, and
