Chapter 13

Diego looked at Sofia, and then back at Mateo who was staring at Sofia in a way that meant he had placed her in a difficult position.

"What is he talking about, Sofia?"

Diego tried to touch Sofia gently, but she moved away from him.

"Let him go," Sofia said to him.

Diego stared at Sofia, confusion and hurt etched on his face. He couldn't understand why she was being so evasive, pushing him away both physically and emotionally. The trust they had built over the years seemed to be crumbling before his eyes, and he desperately wanted to know what was going on.

"Sofia, please, talk to me," Diego pleaded, his voice wavering slightly. "We've always been able to tell each other everything. Why are you keeping secrets from me now?"

Sofia's jaw clenched, and she avoided his gaze, her eyes flickering towards Mateo for a brief moment. Diego followed her line of sight, and a wave of jealousy washed over
