Chapter 25. Then There Was War
The next morning had been chaotic. The whole kingdom had been shaken by the attack. Several guards and some guests were found dead the next morning. The king had gathered his war council to discuss the counter-attack. Edward wanted to go, but he refused to leave Eva alone, even for a few minutes.
“How did they get past the boundary?”
The castle was also guarded with a boundary spell similar to the one at Elijah’s place, but the shadows somehow broke through the spell. Had Edward not heard them, all four of the royal family would have been dead by now.
Edward had managed to get Eva to sleep for a bit; he kept his shadow as the guard until he attended the meeting. He knew why they attacked that day. He just needs to find an opportunity to let Eva know it before the others. So he went to the meeting; afterward, he made the necessary arrangements for the trip they had to take.
