Evan and I waited downstairs for Savanah and Lucy to finish putting Kali to bed. I used the opportunity to speak to him about Selene. I sat forward and grabbed one of the beers from the table, then took another to offer to Evan. He took it then relaxed on the couch. He stretched his arm across the back of the couch and rested his foot on his leg. I smirked at him. He was trying his best to look cool and calm, but I could hear his heart pounding. He also couldn’t stop glancing up the stairs every time he heard the faintest noise. I cleared my throat when he adjusted the collar of his t-shirt for the fourth time.

“So, Selene?”

His face dropped and all the color left his flushed cheeks. He sat forward and spoke quietly.

“Yeah, about that. Where is she? I came to break it off. We haven’t been the same for months.”

“Well, she double crossed me. Tried to drain two teens of their magic, and then ran off to God knows where. Hasn’t she been in touch?”
