I had just calmed down at Savanah’s touch, when Evan came close again, handing a can to Savanah. My head snapped up the moment his energy brushed against mine. I knew he hadn’t even touched me. He didn’t need to. I was still acutely aware of his presence, making my heartbeat speed up again. I barely heard Freya ask about Kali. Only after Savanah nudged me in the ribs, I realized I’d been asked a question. A question that seemed of utter importance to Evan, because he was staring at me in anticipation now. I sighed, sipping on the Coke, biding my time.

How could I explain it all to them?
