Chapter 41. The Scent of Treachery
Celeste’s POV
I never imagined I’d hear those exact words come out of Leon’s mouth. He was an Alpha—one of those prideful, hulking werewolves who tower over the rest of the pack. Alphas wield the most power and hold themselves in the highest esteem. They look down—often literally—as they regard other pack members, and only a rare few ever show genuine respect. The Goddess had seemed different, but I’d always assumed she was an exception. Still, for Leon himself to apologize—publicly, no less—after I beat up his mate, right in front of him… that took me by complete surprise.
Leon bowed his head. I stood there, utterly speechless. Nora and the Goddess watched in astonishment, while Eryndor simply shrugged, clearly unmoved by the spectacle.
