Lira’s POV
Back in my younger years, when I was still a member of the Crimson Howl pack, I was utterly convinced the Lunar Goddess had erred when she chose Celeste to be Leon’s mate. From where I stood, the two had absolutely nothing in common—Leon was steady and strong, while Celeste flitted about, frivolous and constantly ill. She was fickle in her moods and frail in her health.
In my mind, I did her a favor by turning Leon’s heart away from her. Truly, I believed I deserved him. I had loved him for as long as I could remember, ever since I first laid eyes on him as a child. And now that Celeste, who had tormented and bullied him in his youth, was supposed to be “right” for him? I refused to allow it.
