Agreeing to marry a complete stranger was madness, but I couldn’t deny how much of a connection we had. I also found it amazing that he didn’t want to murder my father and he seemed to want to make me happy. The fact that he was gorgeous and a successful businessman didn’t hurt either. I stood there, gazing into his deep green eyes and my heart sank when his grin began to fade. My mom cleared her throat, and I realized instantly that I’d been standing there silent for way longer than I should have been.

“Yes, Jesse. It would be my honor to marry you.”

As soon as the words left my lips, he shot up and scooped me into his arms. He squeezed me a little too hard and I coughed as my air supply was being cut off. He lowered me to the ground and quickly apologized,

“I'm so sorry, Darlin'. I don’t realize my own strength, sometimes.”

He rubbed the back of his neck and his cheeks turned a cute pink color. He was the most adorable man I’d ever met and I had a feeling
