I drove Terence home the next morning, because he had been called to rescue a family of cats trapped in a drain, from an animal rights organization he belonged to.
I wanted to go with him, but I had promised my mom I would go to the hospital.
“I’m sorry,” I said regretfully, as I pulled up in front of his apartment.
He smiled. “No, don’t apologize, you were kind enough to drive me. I’m sorry if I’m a bother.”
“I’ll see you at lunch,” I said. “Text me where you are, and I’ll be there.”
“You don’t have to do that,” Terence said with a furrowed brow. “I’ll probably be busy all day and I guess you are too.”
I looked into his eyes and instantly knew he was asking for space. I smiled and nodded.
