“Why would you say something like that, Dad?” Alfred asked, his tone half annoyed and half complaining. “Don’t you trust me? I can even prolong the life of my patients who are already in stage four, beyond what other doctors had predicted. Your cancer is stage one, and we caught it early, I’m optimistic we can cure you.”
I could see the disappointment in Alfred’s eyes, and I felt guilty. What he said was true. I should have been more optimistic and trusted him.
Besides, I hadn’t felt much of a impact from this so-called cancer so far, so why was I making a fuss about unnecessary things?
