"Do something, Maribel!" I begged, cradling Delaney on my lap as Ronan shook her, his eyes bloodshot. She had lost consciousness, but I could still hear her heartbeat, though it was slow and weak.
"Please, Maribel," Nyra whispered, holding on to Elias, who was still groaning. His forehead was covered with a thin layer of sweat, just like Delaney's. Their lips had turned chapped pretty quickly, and the skin on their face was beginning to turn blue. It was like they couldn't breathe, like their lungs were failing.
My hands were shaking, and I could feel pain in the back of my throat. The more I looked at Delaney, the more my chest and stomach tingled with a heavy feeling that wouldn't go away.
