By the time we got back to the pack, Delaney's room was locked, so we assumed she had already slept and left her be. The next morning when we woke up it was still locked, and despite knocking several times, she didn't respond. We tried mind-linking her, but our messages went unreturned. Kai and I were convinced that she had discovered the marks were gone and was taking it real hard.
"We know you can hear us, Delaney," I spoke, leaning on the door to listen to any movement inside.
"If you don't open, we'll break the door," Kai added firmly, his statement prompting our little mate to open the door. The first thing I noticed was her bloodshot eyes and the dried streams of tears on her cheeks.
