I couldn't stay on the rooftop, not when my entire body was shaking. My knees were weakening with every step that I took, and I had to support myself with the walls on either side of the hallway. The warning from the dark witch played in my mind. 'For a red wolf betrayed as many times as you, I'd be careful who I keep close. You never know who is going to betray you...again.' Her words cycled over and over again; she knew she was talking about my mother, she absolutely knew.

"Kai told me you are on the rooftop," Nyra said, walking out of our room. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She ran over to me and held me, supporting my weight.

I swallowed hard, barely managing to shake my head. "My m-om," I stammered, my throat burning with unshed tears. "Working w-ith the da-rk witch."

"What the hell?" She swore, her eyes
