Delaney

I was heading to Nyra's room to hang out when suddenly Maribel's door opened, and before I could blink, I was yanked inside without any warning.

"What the—"

Elias covered my mouth quickly with his hand, muffling the last word. "We need to talk," he whispered while I peeled his hand off me.

"Did you have to ambush me like that and put your—"

"Lower your voice Delaney, the coast is not clear," Maribel spoke nonchalantly, giving a nod to Elias. He let go, whispering an apology.

"What is the meaning of this?" I asked in a low voice, trying so hard not to shout at them for the stunt they had just pulled.

"Relax, Carter and Nyra are in the next room. We wouldn't want them to hear about the spell now, would we?" Maribel
