Chapter 15
Artemis had awoken to writhing and groaning next to her. As her brows furrowed and quickly rubbed the sleep off of her eyes, her dreamlike state slowly dissipating, she soon realized that the mortal next to her was thrashing in pain, Michail’s face contorted into agony as tears escaped the corners of his eyes.
The goddess immediately sat up, panic in her eyes as she gripped Michail’s shoulders as her mind tried to wake up from her daydreams. She was still naked and wrapped in his blanket, but she couldn’t care any less as she moved to check what was hurting the man she adored.
A gasp left her lips as she found a pool of damp blood on the white linen that hugged Michail’s abdomen. Artemis immediately ripped away the sheets and found that his gash had worsened overnight. The wound opened deeper, the skin around it became swollen and white, and sticky discharges seeped out of it.
