Chapter 13
The grass was a little dead, but then who cared about dead grass when there were dead people to worry about.
Smith was perched on the low bench behind the office. The yard had once been a favorite spot for everyone. The grass was mowed from time to time and still remained a deep rich green. Recently, it was just a smoking spot for those who fancied a little smoke in between the job.
Teddy was seated a distance away, on another bench, gesticulating wildly with a pure blond who had exactly his nose, although she was about a foot shorter than he was. She wore a nicely tailored suit that accentuated the curves she had underneath them. Her shoes were black stilettos, and her bag was a Prada.
Smith liked her, in that sort of way, but then he was a good judge of character and merely looking at her, he knew she was bad news. Not that he didn’t like fancy ladies or richer women.
